About this service

What is Microsoft 365?

Microsoft 365 at CyberBITS covers everything an SME needs to run on Microsoft's cloud platform — tenant migration, licence optimisation, security hardening, device management with Intune and Autopilot, and day-to-day administration. We're a Microsoft Partner based in Cannock, Staffordshire, supporting clients across Birmingham, the West Midlands and South Staffordshire — including Wolverhampton, Walsall, Lichfield and Stafford. A typical engagement starts with an audit of the existing setup, moves through a planned migration with no email downtime, and continues as ongoing support that keeps your tenant secure, your licences right-sized and your team productive.

What's included

Tenant audit through to ongoing care.

Microsoft 365 is powerful, complex and ships with most of the good stuff switched off. We get it set up properly — and keep it that way as your business changes.

  • Tenant migration & setup

Move from on-prem Exchange, Google Workspace, IMAP or another Microsoft 365 tenant. Mailboxes, calendars, files, Teams chats — all moved with no downtime.

  • Licence optimisation

The right plan for the right user. Most SMEs are paying for licence features they don't use — we audit annually and rebalance accordingly.

  • Security hardening

MFA enforcement, Conditional Access policies, Defender for 365, anti-phishing, DLP and audit logging — the controls Microsoft doesn't switch on by default.

  • Intune & Autopilot

Zero-touch device deployment, app management, compliance policies and remote wipe. Onboard a new starter to a fully-configured laptop in minutes, not days.

  • Day-to-day support

Admin changes, mailbox issues, SharePoint permissions, distribution lists, shared calendars — handled by the same UK helpdesk that supports the rest of your IT.

  • Backup & data protection

Third-party Microsoft 365 backup with point-in-time restore for mailboxes, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams. Retention you control — not just Microsoft's defaults.

How it works

Four steps from audit to fully managed.

Most migrations move from kick-off to fully-cut-over in three to six weeks, depending on size. Existing tenants we just take over can be hardened in days.

  1. 01

    Tenant audit

We assess your current setup: licences, security posture, mail flow, file sprawl, devices. You get a clear, prioritised report.

  2. 02

    Plan & quote

Migration plan and fixed-fee quote. Cutover dates agreed around your business, plus any licence changes that save money.

  3. 03

    Migrate & deploy

Mailboxes, files, devices and security policies rolled out in a phased plan. Email continuity throughout — your team keeps working.

  4. 04

    Manage & optimise

Ongoing tenant management: licence reviews, security checks, new-starter onboarding, ad-hoc support, plus quarterly tune-ups.

Apps & services we deploy

The whole Microsoft 365 stack.

Whatever you're licensed for, we'll deploy, secure and support it. Need something not on this list — Power Platform, Defender for Endpoint, Copilot? Just ask.

  • Exchange Online

Cloud email, calendar and contacts. Mailbox provisioning, mail flow, anti-spam and shared mailboxes — all configured properly.

  • Microsoft Teams

Chat, meetings, voice and channel-based collaboration. Set up cleanly, governed properly, and integrated with the rest of your stack.

  • SharePoint Online

Document libraries, intranet sites, version control and external sharing — structured around how your business actually works.

  • OneDrive for Business

Personal file sync for every user, with backup, sharing controls and PC folder redirection set up sensibly.

  • Intune & Autopilot

Mobile device and app management, zero-touch laptop provisioning, compliance enforcement and BYOD support.

  • Defender for 365

Anti-phishing, anti-malware, safe links and safe attachments — properly configured for SMEs, not left at default.

Thinking about Copilot?

Copilot rollouts are part of our AI Services offering.

Before adding Copilot licences we make sure your tenant is structured to actually benefit from it — permissions tight, data clean, governance in place. Otherwise, you're paying £30 a head for an assistant that keeps showing the wrong things.

Frequently asked

Microsoft 365 — your questions answered.

If your question isn't here, get in touch. We'll give you a straight answer — even if it's not the answer you wanted.

  • What's the difference between Microsoft 365 and Office 365?

Office 365 was the original name for the cloud-based subscription that bundles Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive and the Office apps. Microsoft 365 is the broader product, adding Windows licensing, Intune device management and the full Microsoft security stack on top. For most SMEs, the Microsoft 365 Business Standard or Business Premium plan is the right starting point — the latter being significantly more secure and only marginally more expensive.

  • Which Microsoft 365 plan is right for my business?

It depends on user roles, security needs and whether you also need Windows licensing. As a rough guide: Business Basic suits frontline staff who only need web-based apps and email; Business Standard adds desktop Office and is the SME default; Business Premium adds Defender, Intune and Conditional Access, and is the right choice for any business handling sensitive data. We'll audit what you have, sometimes mix plans for different users, and right-size annually.

  • How does a migration from Google Workspace or Gmail work?

We use a third-party migration tool to move mailboxes, calendars, contacts and Drive files into your new Microsoft 365 tenant in parallel with your live system. The cut-over typically happens over a weekend or evening — DNS records change, mail flows to the new tenant, and users sign in to Microsoft 365 the next morning with all their email, calendar and files in place. There's a short period of dual-running, so nothing is lost in transit.

  • Is Microsoft 365 secure enough out of the box?

It's a good baseline, but Microsoft ships many of the strongest controls switched off, and a default tenant is not a hardened tenant. We enforce MFA, set up Conditional Access policies, configure Defender for 365 properly, restrict legacy protocols, audit privileged access and tune anti-phishing rules. Most of these changes are invisible to your end users but make a substantial difference to real-world risk.

  • Do we need third-party backup for Microsoft 365?

Yes, and this is one of the most common gaps we find. Microsoft replicates your data for availability — that's not the same as backup. If a user (or a malicious actor) deletes mailboxes, files or SharePoint sites and it's not noticed within 30–90 days, the data may not be recoverable. We deploy a third-party backup that gives you point-in-time restore for mail, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams, with retention you control.

  • Can you help us roll out Microsoft 365 Copilot?

Yes — Copilot rollouts are part of our AI Services offering. Before adding licences we make sure your data is structured properly (Copilot is only as good as what it can see), permissions are tightened, and there's clear governance on what staff can and can't do with it. We also run training so the licences actually get used.

  • What about laptops, phones and BYOD?

Intune (part of Microsoft 365 Business Premium) is the tool we use to manage company devices and personal devices that touch business data. We set up zero-touch provisioning for new laptops via Autopilot, enforce compliance policies (encryption, screen lock, OS version), and configure mobile app management so corporate data on personal phones can be wiped without touching the user's personal apps.
