About this service

What is networking and UniFi?

Networking and UniFi services at CyberBITS cover the design, installation and ongoing management of business-grade networks built on Ubiquiti's UniFi platform — Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 access points, PoE switching, firewall gateways, and VLAN-segmented networks for staff, voice, IoT and guests. Based in Cannock, Staffordshire, we deliver site surveys and on-site installations across the West Midlands and South Staffordshire — including Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Lichfield and Stafford. Whether you're moving offices, replacing patchy prosumer kit, opening a second site, or just tired of Wi-Fi that drops out in the back of the warehouse, we'll design something that works and keeps working.

What's included

The whole network, not just the Wi-Fi.

A network is only as good as its weakest link. We design and install the lot — survey, cabling, switching, gateway, Wi-Fi and management — so nothing's left rattling.

  • Site survey & RF design

Predictive Wi-Fi modelling and on-site walk-throughs. We measure, we don't guess — so coverage matches your floor plan and your dead spots.

  • UniFi Wi-Fi 6 / Wi-Fi 7

Business-grade access points built for density. Reception, open-plan office, warehouse, mezzanine, car park — coverage that holds up under load.

  • PoE switching

UniFi switches with Power-over-Ethernet feed your APs, cameras, phones and door entry from one tidy rack. Cleaner cabling, fewer plug sockets.

  • Firewalls & gateways

UniFi gateways or dedicated firewalls protecting and shaping traffic at the edge — with built-in IDS/IPS, content filtering and VPN.

  • VLAN segmentation

Staff, voice, guest, IoT and CCTV traffic kept properly separate — so a compromised webcam or guest device can't pivot into your business systems.

  • Remote management & monitoring

Your UniFi controller hosted and watched by us. Alerts on AP outages, switch issues and unusual traffic — fixed before you notice.

How it works

Survey, design, install, support.

Most installs are scoped in a week, designed and quoted in another, and rolled out over a single weekend or planned evening. Bigger sites get a phased plan.

  1. 01

    Site survey

We walk the building, measure RF, photograph cable runs, and ask about how the team actually uses the space.

  2. 02

    Design & quote

Floor plan with AP placements, switch locations, cable runs and a clear materials list. Fixed-fee quote, no surprises.

  3. 03

    Install & configure

Cabling, kit install, configuration and testing — typically over a weekend or evening to avoid disrupting trading hours.

  4. 04

    Manage & monitor

Ongoing remote management, firmware updates, capacity reviews and any moves-and-changes as your business grows.

Common scenarios

Why SMEs come to us about networking.

A handful of patterns we see again and again. If one of these is starting to bite, it's worth a conversation.

  • Patchy Wi-Fi in warehouses or older buildings

Thick walls, mezzanines, metal racking, listed buildings — typical SME premises eat consumer Wi-Fi for breakfast. UniFi's higher-power APs and proper RF design fix the dead spots.

  • Replacing prosumer kit

Netgear, TP-Link, Linksys gear hitting its limits as the business grows. Time to step up to something built for 50–500 devices on the same network.

  • Office moves and new fit-outs

First-fix cabling, second-fix install, and a network ready to plug into on day one. We coordinate with your fit-out contractors so nothing falls through the cracks.

  • Multi-site businesses

One network across all your locations, with site-to-site VPN, central admin and unified monitoring. UniFi makes this simple — and a fraction of the cost of legacy SD-WAN kit.

  • Guest Wi-Fi without the security risk

Properly segmented guest networks, captive portals with branding, and content filtering — so visitors get fast Wi-Fi without ever touching your business traffic.

  • CCTV, access control and IoT

We handle PoE-powered cameras, UniFi access control, and the network design that keeps IoT devices (printers, sensors, signage) on their own VLAN — not drifting onto the staff network.

Frequently asked

Networking — your questions answered.

If your question isn't here, get in touch — happy to talk through your specific building, layout or pain point.

  • What is UniFi and why do you use it?

UniFi is Ubiquiti's business networking platform — access points, switches, firewalls, cameras and door access — all managed through a single controller. We use it because it's enterprise-grade hardware at SME-friendly pricing, the central management is excellent, and the licensing model is one-off rather than annual. For most small and medium-sized businesses, UniFi gives you everything you'd expect from Cisco-class kit at a fraction of the cost.

  • How big does my business need to be to need this?

There's no hard cut-off. We've installed UniFi for businesses with 8 staff in a single office and businesses with 200+ across multiple sites. The deciding factor is usually whether your current network is reliable enough — patchy Wi-Fi, dropped calls, painful guest setups, or a flat network that's hard to secure are all signs you've outgrown consumer-grade kit.

  • Do you do a site survey before quoting?

Yes — for anything beyond a single-AP office, a site survey is essential. We use predictive RF modelling to plan AP placement against your floor plan, then validate with on-site measurements. The survey also picks up things like cable run obstacles and existing infrastructure that affect the quote. For very small offices we can sometimes design from a floor plan and photos.

  • Will it work in my warehouse, older building or multi-floor office?

Yes — and these are exactly the buildings where UniFi outperforms consumer kit. Thick brick walls, metal racking, mezzanines and listed-building constraints all need proper RF design rather than guesswork. We've covered everything from converted Victorian mills to 100-metre warehouses with mezzanines and outdoor yards. The key is the survey.

  • Can you handle the cabling too, or just the network kit?

Yes — we either handle structured cabling directly or coordinate with a trusted cabling partner depending on the scale. For office moves or new fit-outs we project-manage the cabling, AP install, switching and configuration as one piece of work, so there's no finger-pointing if something doesn't work.

  • Can you connect multiple sites?

Yes — UniFi makes site-to-site VPN straightforward, and for businesses that need more (SD-WAN, dedicated leased lines, MPLS-style connectivity) we'll design the right approach. We've connected single offices to warehouses next door, retail chains across the Midlands, and home-worker setups back to a central hub.

  • Can guest Wi-Fi be properly separated?

Yes — guest traffic should never touch your business network, and on a properly designed UniFi network it doesn't. Guest VLAN, captive portal with your branding, time-limited or password-controlled access, and content filtering. Guests get fast Wi-Fi; your business stays secure.
